ABS

The main properties of ABS include:

● Mechanical properties: ABS has good impact strength and can be used at extremely low temperatures. Excellent wear resistance and good dimensional stability. However, its bending strength and compressive strength are relatively poor among plastics. Mechanical properties also have a greater impact on temperature.
● Thermal properties: The heat distortion temperature of ABS is 93~118℃, and the product can be increased by about 10℃ after annealing treatment. Even at -40°C, ABS can still show a certain degree of toughness and can be used in the temperature range of -40~100°C.
● General performance: ABS is opaque and ivory-colored in appearance. It is non-toxic, tasteless and has low water absorption. It can be dyed into various colors and has a high gloss of 90%. It has good bonding properties with other materials and is easy to surface print, coat and plating.
● Environmental performance: ABS is not affected by water, inorganic salts, alkali and various acids, but it is soluble in ketones, aldehydes and chlorinated hydrocarbons. It will cause stress cracking when corroded by glacial acetic acid, vegetable oil, etc. At the same time, it has poor weather resistance and is prone to degradation under the action of ultraviolet light.
● Dyeing performance: ABS has good dyeing performance and can be dyed quickly.
● Hardness: ABS is a hard material with high hardness.
● Impact resistance: ABS has good impact resistance and its surface is full of luster.
● Fluidity: The fluidity of ABS melt is better than PVC and PC, but worse than PE, PA and PS, and similar to POM and HIPS. Its flow characteristics are non-Newtonian fluids, and the melt viscosity is related to both processing temperature and shear rate, but is more sensitive to shear rate.

The main uses of ABS:

● Automotive field: ABS is used to manufacture various parts of automobiles, such as dashboards, steering wheels, fenders, handles, armrests, etc.
● Mechanical and electrical fields: ABS can be used to manufacture mechanical components, such as gears, pump impellers, bearings, handles, pipes, pipe fittings, battery tanks, and power tool casings. In addition, in the electrical field, ABS plastic can be used to manufacture insulators, cable sheaths, etc.
● Construction and home furnishing fields: ABS is also widely used in the home and construction fields, such as thermal insulation and shock-proof materials, imitation wood products, pipes and pipe fittings, etc.
● Medical field: ABS is also used to manufacture medical equipment, such as dental instruments, surgical instruments, etc.
● Other fields: ABS can also be used to manufacture the shells of telephones, mobile phones, televisions, washing machines, radios, tape recorders, copiers, fax machines, toys, kitchen supplies and other products. At the same time, ABS is also commonly used to manufacture various types of chemical anti-corrosion pipes, gold-plated products, stationery, toys, etc.
